Commuting into work today made me realise how time-, effort- and energy- intensive an activity it is, and that this was/continues to be a norm.
That's common knowledge in Silicon Valley. I used to live there. I had a two-hour commute each way. That wasn't aberrant. A large fraction of workers there do the same. Most employers would let you do one (maybe two if you're lucky) telecommuting days per week.
